Tone It Up founders Karena Dawn and Katrina Scott take over our workout playlist & offer tips and tricks to keep listeners motivated
Have you been up in the gym just workin’ on your fitness in the New Year? Well, if you have, you should be on alert: Spotify data shows that New Year’s fitness resolutions drop off right around…now. Early February (5th-7th) is when streams of workout playlists on Spotify take a serious dip.
Fortunately, Karena Dawn and Katrina Scott—founders of fitness and lifestyle community Tone It Up – are taking over Spotify’s workout playlist with their favorite tunes to keep listeners from falling victim to the early February fitness fatigue.
“Karena and I totally know the importance of having a great playlist to get your workout in,” says Katrina. “We’re always creating new Spotify playlists to go along with the vibe of each of our Challenges. If you have a great set of tunes, you can pretty much do anything!”
From hits like “Alarm” by Anne-Marie to The Magician Remix of Lykke Li’s “I Follow Rivers,” the playlist selections will keep listeners motivated to stick to their fitness resolutions through February and beyond.
“We love songs that are up-beat and get us movin’. We’re particularly obsessed with ‘Shape of You’ by Ed Sheeran and ‘Don’t Wanna Know’ by Maroon 5 and Kendrick Lamar,” say Karena. “It’s so important to have some tunes that will get you pumped and energized when you’re hitting the pavement for a run. It really helps make the workout fly by!”
The takeover takes place during Tone It Up’s 6-week Look for Love Challenge, which will end just before Valentine’s Day, and encourages people to look and feel their best with a variety of tools to meet their goals. Since launching Tone It Up in 2009, Karena and Katrina have paved the way for social fitness, connecting women worldwide and offering fitness videos, daily workouts, cooking segments, recipes and girlfriend advice to help millions of women live energetic and confident lives.
In addition to having a great playlist to keep you motivated during February and beyond, Karena also offers this advice: “I write down my yearly goals at the front of my planner. That way I’m reminded EVERY day what my intentions are for the year. Sometimes, just having a reminder of WHY you’re doing the things you’re doing helps you stick to them.”
Katrina adds that accountability is key. “Grab an accountability partner to help ya out! With our Tone It Up Challenge, there are thousands of women pushing and lifting each other to help achieve all of their fitness goals! You can still sign up here to receive a free starter pack for the Tone It Up Challenge with all the deets you need to make 2017 the best year yet!”
