Music is an integral part of the workout experience, and Spotify listeners are soundtracking every rep, step and stride to get energized. Our workout playlists are streamed nearly 300 million minutes a month, and brands are finding new ways to reach this captive, engaged audience right in the moment.
Our latest partnership shows that brands can provide value in the moment, too. This week we’ve teamed up with Gatorade and Steve Aoki to create personalized playlists that give athletes an extra boost in their workouts to help them stay motivated.
Starting today, fans can access Gatorade Amplify, a web-based application that delivers personalized, insight-driven music recommendations to power an athlete’s workout. The app offers three different playlist types based on the user’s workout regimen:
1) High-Intensity Workout
2) Interval Training
3) The Steve Aoki Experience – the ultimate energy mix, executive-produced by Steve Aoki featuring artists from Dim Mak Records.
Each track will match the duration of a high-intensity exercise, and the implementation of crossfading helps users seamlessly move from one interval to the next.
To inform track selections, Gatorade and Spotify worked with research company The Sync Project to determine acoustic and BPM trends within these categories by analyzing popular workout playlists and songs. Once they crunch the numbers, users have the best playlists to fuel their workouts and they automatically refresh each week.
