Sigur Rós have created a listening party within a dedicated room on Soundrop, the Spotify App app. The new album Valtari will feature on the first day with the rest of their catalogue being added each day until Sunday, culminating in a playlist with the 20 most popular tracks as voted for by fans.
We kick off a new week with a new indie electronic band from Canada: “Purity Ring”. I really like their first single “Obedear” from their debut album “Shrines” which is to be released in July.
We continue with a song called “Holy Moses” by Megan Washington. Megan is an Australian musician and songwriter who records and performs under the single moniker “Washington”. “Holy Moses” is from her first studio album “I Believe You Liar” that came out in 2010. You should also check out some of her previous EPs like “How To Tame Lions” from 2009.
Next one out this week is a playful pop duo from Los Angeles: “Pepper Rabbit” with their song “Older Brother” from their album “Beauregard”.
Last band in this week’s playlist is the rare and beautiful “Exitmusic” and their song “The Night”. The New York based duo just came out with a nice debut LP called “Passage” now in May.
If you have song suggestion for next week’s playlist, be sure to drop them in Mona’s Spotify Inbox.
