Spotify Music catalogue updated with 1,200 releases

Hopefully everyone had a nice, relaxing long weekend and took full advantage of the great weather. To get you back into the work mood we’ve updated our music catalogue with over 1,200 albums and singles, in total over 13,000 new tracks are now available.

Todays update has some really great additions. Some of the brand new releases include the new Super Furry Animals album, Dark Days/Light Years. We’ve also added a lot more content from the Sub Pop, Jagjaguwar and Secretly Canadian Records labels. These labels cover artists such as Ladyhawk, Okkervil River and Wolf Parade. Also added were some releases from Of Montreal and Aimee Mann.

For a full listing of the additions please have a look at the Google Doc. As with every update not all albums listed may be available in your country due to regional restrictions.

  1. Now this is the kind of update I’ve been waiting for! All three of those labels are responsible for a hell of a lot of the music I like. So very cool! Thanks!

  2. Why are albums disappearing in Sweden? Today records by Refused and Raised Fist disappeared and probably alot more. I thought this wasnt going to happen anymore???

  3. Varför lägger ni inte till Malena Ernmans La Voix & Sarah Dawn Finers I’m Moving on? Annars ett as bra arbete ni gör, Ser framemot Spotify – iPhone =)

  4. Hur mycket krut läggs egentligen på att försöka internationalisera musikbiblioteket?

  5. Excellent – last update I asked for Seven Swans by Sufjan Stevens, lo and behold it’ss here today. Great news. ANy chance of more Eliza Carthy now?

  6. Although not the biggest, one of the best updates so far! Gr8!

Everyone should listen to papas fritas – building and grounds… perfect pop..

    Keep the good work 🙂

  7. Why where Raised Fist removed today(yesterday)? All good music is removed? I’ve have been thinking about subscribing but not when all good music is removed.

  8. When will we get the new “Debauchery” album? They released it 3th of April.

  9. Great update, just a shame you haven’t yet added a ‘search by label feature’, would be really useful! Is this possible?

  10. You should mention the fact that with every update to the catalogue tracks may be removed as well as added. It’s wrong to give users the impression that you are only adding tracks when, due to the way that music publishing works, you will often be required to remove or restrict tracks that were previously available.

I suggest you should change the standard text that you use in the blog with every update that says…

“As with every update not all albums listed may be available in your country due to regional restrictions.”

    to something like…

“As with every update not all albums listed may be available in your country due to regional restrictions. Albums or individual tracks previously available in your country may also become unavailable due to publishing contract changes, changes in rights ownership or changes to regional restrictions.”

Everytime you make an update there are questions about albums or tracks disappearing so this does not appear to be an isolated incident but something that happens with every update. You need to explain this more clearly.

  11. Great update! 31Knots, Black Mountain, Bon Iver, Earth, all the Jason Molina/Songs Ohia/Magnolia Electric stuff, Parts & Labor, Why?, Woven Hand… Just awesome.

  12. Guys can I suggest an alternative price model. If you would let me pay £1 a month and only hear adverts every few hours, I would be a paid member.

  13. A 100% webbased version of Spotify would be great! My boss is mumbling about blocking the opportunity to install software on our machines… 😉

  14. Great news and excellent job!

Have you thought about an equalizer in the player? Sometimes a change in the bass and a fade between songs would be great 😉

  15. Hi,
Do you know if you’ll be able to have the record from Family, “Un soplo en el corazón”? (80`s Spanish pop music).

Also, I see you don’t have Coeur de Pirate (Very recent Canadian singer).

  16. Sorry, I forgot an important one: Cycle (and particularly its hit Confusion!)

  17. My name is Django Tango – I am an Argentine Tango DJ and am LOVING Spotify – thanks. Could you add an iTunes type star rating field for the playlists, both private and collaborative.
Keep up the good work. This is spotting and identifying music for the 21st century! So far I have been able to buy every track I wanted to add to my collection through iTunes.
    DJ Django Tango

  18. Sub Pop!
Okkervil River, Wolf Parade and Of Montreal in one release.
    This is brilliant, man.

  19. ken.w – We just received our first batch from CD Baby this week so they should be up in a few weeks once we process them.

  20. This is an awesome update. I’ve found that a lot of bands/albums I’m searching to try out were added in this update. Thanks.
