Amon Tobin has come together with highly respected Saatchi Collection artist Tessa Farmer on a revolutionary, collaborative installation called Control Over Nature, running now through until Sunday 5th June 2011. The installation combines Amon Tobinʼs sound design and elements of the new album ISAM, alongside Farmerʼs trademark sculptures, constructed from bits of organic material, such as roots, dead insects and bones.
To celebrate, Spotify users have the chance to win one of three copies of a limited edition artbook CD of ISAM,which features exclusive images shot by Pelle Crepin which are not available anywhere else. It includes in-depth interviews from both Amon Tobin and Tessa Farmer on the project.

Frontman Josh Homme: There’s no ulterior motive at this label, no overbearing corporate machine, middleman or pressure to conform. Just art in its purest form. As Josh sees it, “now is a great time to make music for the sake of making music. Single, shmingle, just make a fucking piece of art.”
Here you can listen to the first three Rekords Rekords releases. Firstly, the much sort after and quite rare QOTSA debut, re-released in all its remastered glory. Also featured are first signings Alain Johannes and Mini Mansions.
Spark is Johannes’ first solo debut after being a longstanding collaborator with artists including QOTSA, Mark Lanegan and Desert Sessions . Here, he pays tribute to his late wife and creative partner Natasha Shneider with an honest and heartfelt collection of songs. “The rollercoaster of Spark’s fragile beauty is the reason I started playing music”, says Homme , “some things that can’t be explained with words. This record is such a great example of what cannot be said but what is so true.” Spark is available on Spotify Premium from 30th of May and for all users on June 6th.
Also present is the Mini Mansions debut, also available onSpotify Premium from 30th of May and for all users on June 6th. Mini Mansions is a project started by Michael Shuman while on a break from Queens of the Stone Age. He melded heads with longtime friends Tyler Parkford and Zach Dawes in a dusty room in the San Fernando Valley and it was born. Shuman describes it as “completely different than anything that’s coming out right now and it’s something very special.”
Sebastian has followed such an impressive path that it’s hard to believe that he’s only now releasing his long-awaited debut album.
But the facts are clear: after several EPs (H.A.L, Smoking Kills, Ross Ross Ross, Motor), a record compiling his many remixes for Daft Punk, Kelis and the Kills among others (Sebastian Remixes) and a co-production of the soundtrack for the film “Steak” with Sebastien Tellier and Mr Oizo, in which he also played one of the leading roles.
One of the creators (along with Justice), of the Ed Banger sound, he is without a doubt the label’s most unusual figure. An iconoclast maverick he readily defies the rules to deliver a dirty and violent kind of techno that coughs and spits; music to his image: human and visceral. Super prolific and constantly effervescent this musician has managed, in the space of a few years, to redefine electronic music and is ready to astound everyone once again with TOTAL, a definitive and meteoric first album.
To celebrate the launch of ‘TOTAL‘ we’re offering one UK Spotify subsciber the chance to win a pair of tickets to see Sebastian perform in the Ed Banger Arena @ Lovebox in London’s Victoria Park on 15th July.
For your chance to win simply subscribe to this playlist of the new album, and one lucky listener will be selected at random to win a pair of tickets for the Friday of the Festival! Term’s & Condition’s here.
My Morning Jacket are back with their much-anticipated new album: “Circuital” and we are happy to announce it is available to listen exclusively on Spotify Premium alongside of playlist compare by front man Jim James.
“The new record, Circuital, is named after the title song,” explains Jim James, of My Morning Jacket’s sixth studio album. “On that song I sing about ending up in the same place where you started out. And that makes a lot of sense for this album… I hate the phrase ‘going back to our roots’, but for this record we came home and made it in Kentucky. And it just felt a lot like it did when we were first starting out…”
Additionally, we’re running a competition to win a pair of tickets to see the band play live at Somerset House on July 17th. All you have to do is subscribe to their playlist for a chance to win.

L.A. Noire Radio Songs
L.A. Noire is the latest release from Rockstar to get gamers in a tizz. It’s garnered rave reviews from the press as a watershed moment in console history – and the music is pretty decent to. Check out this playlist for all the music from the game, artists such as T-Bone Walker, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday. The game also stars Ken Cosgrove, Mad Men fans. Sadly, he doesn’t feature on this playlist.
He may modestly refer to himself as “a song and dance man” but American blues musician Seasick Steve is indisputably a living legend. His latest album, ‘You Can’t Teach An Old Dog New Tricks’, is a twelve-track album, recorded through the fall of 2010 and produced by The Dowg hisself.
Premium users can listen to a sampler of his new album including the title single from May 23rd, or experience the full album in all of its blues rock brilliance from May 30th.
Toploader return in May with their third album, Only Human. From the powerful opening of Marrakech right up until the closing strains of Numb, this record is packed with rich melodies and anthemic choruses.
Having taken an extended hiatus since the demise of their former record label S2 in 2003, the revived band started writing and rehearsing again in late 2009. Within six months Joseph Washbourn (vocals + keys), Dan Hipgrave (guitar), Matt Knight (bass) and Rob Green (drums) had written over 25 songs and were ready to get back into the studio.
Working with producer Danton Supple (Coldplay, Doves, Morrissey), the band found making Only Human to be a rewarding and surprisingly therapeutic process. Guitarist Dan Hipgrave notes, “This is the album we always wanted to make, exactly the way we wanted to make it.”
The album is officially released on May 30th, but starting today Spotify Premium subscribers can listen to album in its entirety.
