Spotify music catalogue updated with 127,578 new tracks

Today’s update is most likely the biggest update we’ve had since we launched last year. We’ve added 11,280 albums and singles to our catalogue, in total 127,578 new tracks are now available.

So much new stuff I don’t even know where to begin. The vast majority of the new content comes from labels that are signed with Zebralution. Also part of today’s new releases is The Spinning Top by Graham Coxon. The latest album from Junior Boys, Begone Dull Care, is now available for listening. And finally a new single from Petter, Slag under bältet, a big thanks to Petter for sending that to us.

For a full listing of today’s additions please have a look at the Google Docs. The update was so big that I had to split it into two in order to make it fit, one which is sorted by artist and the other which is sorted by label. As with every update not all albums listed may be available in your country and some tracks previously available may no longer be playable due to regional restrictions.

1. With todays HUGE music catalogue update the number of jazz tracks changed from 85,782 to 85,794 tracks, so only 12 new jazz tracks were added! That’s very disappointing for all jazz music lovers and i hope you will serve all genres more equally in the next catalogue updates…

2. @ akrde: If you check the google doc you will see that there were lots of jazz tracks added. Don’t always trust the numbers.

3. If i search for “genre:jazz” in the Spotify client and get 85,794 tracks as a result then i have to trust that this number is correct. If it’s not correct then there is a bug in the client that has to be corrected, because otherwise any numbers you get there couldn’t be trusted anymore. So until such a bug is officially confirmed i still can comment on what i see: ONLY 12 new tracks in the genre “jazz” and that’s very disappointing for such a huge music catalogue update!!! :-(

4. @ akrde: It’s also not up to Spotify – they can only add more Jazz when a copyright holder lets them.

5. Wow im extremely dissapointed.. How come the oasis albums are not available in the Uk considering its a uk band? WTF.

No lacuna coil albums or katie melua…. Extremely Dissapointed..

When will these be available in the uk??

6. Wow, that is huge… it took me a while to browse the doc. There is a little mistake on this album, the band’s name is “Canta U Populu Corsu” and not “Canta U Populo Corsu” as it is now.

7. I can’t believe you guys bust a gut uploading over 100,000 tracks and there are people complaining, crazy.

@akrde I’m not going to go into how many they added this time or why that might not show up (actually a quick note to say that the list is for all countries so maybe they just weren’t added for your country yet), but doing your Genre:X search for other genres gives an interesting picture (from my client):

Jazz 84441
Punk 11061
R&B 46574
Rock 290221
Country 42824
Hip-Hop 30501
Techno 6667
Disco 4248
Soul 37142

After this point I got bored, but my point is other than Rock, Jazz appears to have nearly double the tracks of any other genre, if there were less in this update then maybe that was readdressing the balance?

On an unrelated note, do you guys have any idea when you might get The Tallest Man On Earth for uk users?

8. yuaske: 2 971 889 tracks available for us norwegians.
But I’m guessing the 100k+ extra tracks you guys have are all Arvingarna and Lasse Stefanz, so I don’t envy you.

On a unrelated matter; is the lack of top lists and (helpful) suggestions for my user connected to the playlist issue?

9. thanks for all the jazz (keep on goin’ !)
We should be able to mark tracks where there are some mistakes in the tags….

10. 2.939.701 spanish premium user

But as far as i know it doesn’t mind your free user o premium status for having more access to tracks, isn’t it?

No century media content charged already….

11. Varese Sarabande!!!!!!! Thanks!!!!!! Finally, a huge improvement for your soundtracks catalogue :D

12. Thanks a lot for Negura Bunget and Manes! :D
great stuff: spotify:album:1EbBtf7i8sopqERrvrBAC1

13. 3089475 for a free account in Sweden, that’s a surprisingly small difference compared to the premium I would say.

Congratulations on passing another great milestone of +3M tracks!

14. martandersson:
So, I’m guessing the new Green Day album is 18 tracks then.
AFAIK the only difference between free and premium is no commercials and the occational sneak peek at upcoming albums.

15. jente16 – Correct, aside from pre-releases the catalogues are the same in free and premium.

16. wow, thanks for that huge update. Especially pleased with the addition of nearly all Abed Azrié albums. One typo to correct though : “Aromates” should be attributed to Abed A(zr)ié, not A(rz)ié, so it wouldn’t be missing in Azrie albums list :)
other than that : BRAVO

17. Pleeaaasee make Cradle of Filths Midian and Foo Fighters In Your Honor avaible in Sweden :-))

18. Andres – Hopefully the lack of any real difference between free and premium (except for the ads) will change soon otherwise I don’t see much point in continuing to pay 99kr per month and still being treated as a second class citizen by the record labels who still insist on restricting me from play certain tracks and artist even though I am willing to pay.

19. Sorry that should have read…

(that’ll teach me to read through my comments before hitting submit!!!)

20. I would just like to know why Prodigy’s new songs aren’t available in the UK yet :( But other than that, great catalogue!

21. Would it be possible to add extra columns (one for each market) to show whether a particular item is available in that market?

22. It sais “browsing failed” if I type in the link for “One Foot in the Grave” by Beck. And it doesn’t show up if I search for it. Does anyone else have this problem? It’s such a shame to miss out on a great album like that.

23. tempestuphonic – That Beck album, along with a few others, were corrupted when we added them to our system and became unplayable. We should have it fixed next week and then it will appear again.

24. I’m still quite pissed about that a lot of music that was available before still is not put back.

Put it back now!!!!!!!!!!!

25. Really want some Lacuna Coil on there!
Can’t complain really though, its a free service and its rather amazing. :)
