Avicii vinner Årets Innovatör på Grammisgalan 2012

Priset ”Årets Innovatör” på Grammis 2012 tilldelades Avicii, som premieras för sitt gedigna arbete med att engagera sina fans via sociala medier. Galan hölls under tisdagen på Kungliga Operan i Stockholm.

Årets innovatör instiftades 2011 av IFPI tillsammans med Telia och Spotify för att synliggöra en artist eller grupp som genom nya angreppssätt byggt relationer med sina fans via sociala medier eller digitala kanaler. Förutom utmärkelsen vinner Avicii en marknadsföringskampanj på Spotify till ett värde av 200 000 kronor.

Juryn anser att Avicii har arbetat målmedvetet med att etablera sig som en av världens mest eftertraktade DJ:s. Han har byggt en stark relation till sina fans genom musiken, tävlingar och exklusivt material, likväl visat på kreativitet och nytänkande i att sprida sin musik.

Tack så mycket för priset årets innovatör! Jag vill dedikera det här priset till min manager Ash för att han redan från början insett vikten av sociala medier och hans ständigt nyskapande och kreativa idéer när det kommer till att aktivera och kommunicera med fansen och marknadsföra varumärket, säger Avicii.

15th February 1941, Born on this day in 1941, Brian Holland producer and songwriter, (from Holland/Dozier/Holland), who wrote many hits for Motown artists and was responsible for the “Motown Sound.”
Between 1963 and the end of 1967 H/D/H wrote the majority of Motown’s hit singles, including “Heat Wave,” “Quicksand,” and “Nowhere To Run” for Martha and The Vandellas, “Can I Get a Witness,” “Your a Wonderful One,” and “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You) for Marvin Gaye. Eddie Holland later collaborated with Norman Whitfield on “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” “Beauty Is Only Skin Deep,” and “(I Know) I’m Losing You”, which were all hits for The Temptations.

16th February 1991, The Simpsons were at No.1 on the UK singles chart with “Do The Bartman”. The song was written by Michael Jackson and Bryan Lorenand, The Simpsons became the first cartoon characters to make No.1 since the Archies hit “Sugar Sugar” in 1969. Jackson was a massive fan of The Simpsons and had called the producers one night offering to write Bart a number one single and do a guest spot on the show. Jackson eventually guest-starred in the episode “Stark Raving Dad”, under the pseudonym John Jay Smith. He also wrote a song for that episode called “Happy Birthday Lisa”.

17th February 2005, A 1965 Fender Stratocaster guitar belonging to Jimi Hendrix sold for £100,000 at an auction in London, England. Other Hendrix items sold included a poem written two weeks after his appearance at the Monterey Festival which went for £10,000 and the first Jimi Hendrix Experience’s single “Hey Joe”, signed by all the band sold for £2,000.

18th February 1954, Born on this day, John Travolta, actor, singer, who had the 1978 UK & US No.1 single with Olivia Newton John, “You’re The One That I Want”. The track topped the UK Singles chart for nine weeks in the summer of 1978 and as of 2008, is still the sixth best-selling single ever in the UK where it has sold over 2,015,000 copies.

His mother and his sister Ann appeared as extras in Saturday Night Fever and his sister Ellen appeared as a waitress in Grease. Travolta is a certified private pilot and owns five aircraft, including an ex-Qantas Boeing 707–138 airliner.

19th February The Johnny Cash estate blocks an attempt by advertisers to use ‘Ring Of Fire’ to promote haemorrhoid-relief products. The idea is said to have been backed by Merle Kilgore, who co-wrote the song with Cash’s wife, June Carter Cash. Cash’s daughter Rosanne said the family would never allow the song to be demeaned like that.

20th February. The US salon where pop star Britney Spears shaved her head sets up a website to auction her hair off for more than $1m (£512,500). The winning bidder will also get the clippers Spears used, a blue lighter she left at the salon and the can of Red Bull she was drinking at the time.

21st February 1943, Born on this day, David Geffen, Geffen record label boss. Founder of Asylum records who signed The Eagles, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Jackson Browne and Joni Mitchell.

Geffen is also noted for creating Geffen Records in 1980, and DGC Records in 1990. Geffen was also one of the three founders of DreamWorks SKG in 1994. Geffen has an estimated net worth of $4.6 billion, making him one of the richest people in the entertainment industry.
