Over the next few weeks we will be rolling out an updated Terms and Conditions of Use and Privacy Policy to customers so they can better understand our service. We want to be as open and transparent as possible when it comes to how we describe our business, how we work with advertisers, what information we collect, and what we do with it. We also want to make sure our terms are up-to-date with all the latest features we are offering.

We are constantly innovating and evolving our service to deliver the best possible experience for our users. This means delivering the perfect recommendations for every moment, and helping you to enjoy, discover and share more music than ever before. The data we access simply helps us to tailor improved experiences to our users, and build new and personalized products for the future. Recent new features include Spotify Running, which matches the BPM of your music to the pace of your run, or the new Discover Weekly feature, which curates a weekly playlist based on your tastes.

Here is an overview of what we have updated in the Terms and Conditions of Use:

  • Additional clarity around promotional offers and trials.
  • Clearer rules governing user-generated content.
  • Clearer guidance on how brands may interact with the Spotify service.
  • New section on the external Support Community.
  • Greater detail around the arbitration process for dispute resolution.
  • Streamlining policies into as few as possible.

Here is an overview of some of the new points in our Privacy Policy:

  • The Information We Collect section has been expanded to include new technical data such as additional cookies, device information, and network information.
  • We also note that we may ask for customer permission to collect information from new sources, such as address book, location, and sensor data from the mobile device to improve the customer experience and inform product decisions.
  • We provide more clarity on how we share data with partners who help us with our marketing and advertising efforts for both Spotify and our brand partners.

The new Terms and Conditions of Use and Privacy Policy will be rolling out incrementally across all Spotify markets over the next few weeks. When the update is released in your market it will be available here and here.

The privacy and security of our customers’ data is – and will remain – Spotify’s highest priority. We will always ask for individual permission or clearly inform you of the ability to opt out from sharing location, photos, voice and contacts.

 

 

Backstage med Florence + The Machine

På scenen er Florence Welch en naturkraft som kaster seg med hjertet først inn i musikken og publikumshavet. Men hva skjer backstage før og etter den enorme konserteksplosjonen? Florence forteller oss om et turnéliv fylt med tatoveringer, tresko og gjørme.

På starten av sommeren slapp Florence + The Machine det storslagne albumet How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, og nå snur de konsertarenaer på hodet med den fengende musikken. Spesielt virker den nyeste singelen Queen of Peace å ha truffet en nerve hos mange.

– Det er en så triumferende låt, men jeg var ikke akkurat på et triumferende sted i livet da vi skrev den. Låten handler om kampen som utspilles i oss selv når det føles som om kjærligheten er en krig som ikke kan vinnes. Hver gang man slutter fred gir man bort en liten del av seg selv.

Det er fascinerende hvordan en så absurd situasjon som det å opptre foran tusenvis av mennesker kommer så naturlig for noen artister. Florence Welch virker som om hun er født til å stå på scenen.

– Jeg føler meg fri, som om jeg er knyttet til et eller annet som jeg ikke vet hva er. Jeg er bare på rett sted. I hverdagen føler jeg meg ofte splittet, men når jeg er på scenen faller alle bitene på plass.

Når du er ute på turné slik som nå, hva er det du ikke kan reise uten?

– Menn med tatoveringer, haha! Eller bandet, da. Også pakker jeg alt for mye klær, mye mer enn jeg trenger. Klær med fargerike mønstre og tresko. Jeg elsker tresko og det er litt bekymringsverdig med tanke på hvor tunge de er. Gucci har laget noen skikkelig kule som er dekket av pels. Jeg har mange «fuzzye» klær. Mamma blir ganske forvirret av dem.

Hva er det siste du gjør før du går på scenen?

– Samles i en klynge med bandet. Vi har fortsatt ikke funnet ut helt hva vi skal si til hverandre når vi gjør det, så det blir som regel til at vi synger en Beatles-låt eller noe. Vi samles og skriker ting. Jeg hører på andres musikk også. Den musikken jeg elsker akkurat da, som for eksempel Django Django som jeg liker skikkelig godt nå. Det gjør alltid at jeg får lyst til å opptre.

Hva er det første som skjer når du går av scenen?

– Noen legger en kappe eller et teppe over meg. Jeg har som regel glemt at jeg har mistet toppen eller at føttene mine er dekket av gjørme. Noen ganger blir jeg også båret av scenen.

Fortell oss om din aller første festival!

– Pappaen min tok meg med til Womad World Music Festival. Jeg ville ha en gjøglerhatt fordi jeg mente man ikke hadde vært ordentlig på festival før man hadde det. Å ha en morsom hatt var det aller viktigste for meg. Kanskje det fortsatt er sånn, haha!

Hit the Road with Spotify in Ford Vehicles

  • Spotify Now Compatible with New Ford SYNC 3 Communications and Entertainment System

What’s a drive without Music? Yes, you’ll still get where you’re going, but will you truly enjoy the ride — we think not.   

To give drivers a more complete music experience in the car, Spotify has extended its partnership with Ford, to enable Spotify users (Free and Premium) with SYNC 3-equipped cars to control Spotify from the driver’s seat with several new enhanced features for iOS and Android.

Spotify, one of the first apps to integrate with AppLink, is the only on-demand music service available on the all-new SYNC 3 communications and entertainment system, first launching on 2016 models of the Ford Escape and Fiesta this summer, and expanding to all Ford vehicles by the end of next year. This makes it easier than ever for Ford drivers to access Spotify and hit the road with a brand new interface designed for the car.

In addition to all the great Spotify AppLink integration found in Ford cars since 2013, this latest and greatest version, SYNC 3, for 2016 Ford Escape and Fiestas this summer, includes the following new features for iOS and Android users:

  • SYNC 3 includes a rich color touchscreen display for large cover art, plus Browse, Your music, Search, your playlists and all the other music and podcasts from your Spotify apps.
  • Drivers can now speak to choose playlists synced across any device, toggle shuffle on and off, save tracks to their music collection, and more, all hands-free.
  • Faster, more responsive, and easier to use via voice and dashboard controls.

20 Million Reasons to Say Thanks

What a difference a year makes! At the end of May 2014, we reached 10 million paying subscribers and 40 million active users. Today, we have reached more than 20 million subscribers and more than 75 million active users. 10 million subscribers in our first five and a half years – and another 10 million subscribers in just a single year! That’s an average of one new subscriber every three seconds over the last year. Wow. And, more people listening on Spotify means more payouts to the creators of the music you love.  As we grow, the amount of royalties we pay out to artists, songwriters and rights holders continues to climb faster than ever. We have now paid more than $3 billion USD in royalties, including more than $300 million in the first three months of 2015 alone. That’s good for music, good for music fans … and good for music makers. Take a look at what it means for four different types of artists. We’re updating Spotify for desktop – with fully integrated lyrics

Today we’re launching a desktop update with new features and improvements. First of all, we’re making lyrics a seamless part of the Spotify experience on desktop. Powered by Musixmatch, the world’s largest lyrics catalogue, the ability to sing along to your favourite tunes is just a click away.

Simply fire up any song on our desktop app and hit the new Lyrics button. You can also search and browse popular lyrics from Spotify’s top songs using the Explore feature.

We’re not just making your next sing-along better though. Here are a couple of other new features we’ve been working on:

– New and improved Friend Feed: now it’s easier than ever to discover what the people you care about are listening to. Simply scroll down the sidebar to see what playlists, songs and artists your friends are enjoying.
– Introducing daily viral charts: serving you the most shared tracks around the world and in your region. Additionally, all charts now feature indicators to highlight new music and how tracks are performing day by day.

SXSW ’15 – here we come!

We are so excited to be returning to Austin for our 4th year to celebrate SXSW! From March 15 – 20, The Spotify House will be your go-to venue to unwind, discover the best new artists and take part in unique experiences.

Our 2015 line-up boasts 30+ must-see-acts including breakout talent Marian Hill, Conrad, Cam and many more. Everyday, we’ll have live performances on two stages, so come ready to rock. You can check out the full daily line-up here. We’ll also be serving up the best local Austin eats, curated by our friends at SUPPER.

To kick start each day, The Spotify House will be hosting a unique SoulCycle pop-up experience. Each morning, live DJ sets and the best fitness instructors in the world will take Spotify fans on the ride of their lives, set to a once in a lifetime musical experience. SoulCycle fans will be riding to some of the world’s best DJ’s, including Ryan Hemsworth and Hudson Mohawke throughout the week. Check out the daily schedule here to sign up for a ride.

We’ve also teamed up with Bose, Squarespace and truth to bring to life one-of-a-kind experiences for guests.

  • Bose: Spotify is excited to launch Unveiled in partnership with Bose at this year’s SXSW. Unveiled provides music fans with a once in a lifetime experience of seeing their favorite artists perform their newest or soon-to-be-released album live, for the first time. Inaugural artists include James Bay, MisterWives and other special guests. Music fans visiting The Spotify House will also experience the power of Spotify through Bose® SoundTouch™ Wi-Fi® music systems.
  • Squarespace: Each day at The Spotify House, Austin-based Squarespace visual artists explore the intersection between music and art, creating new pieces inspired by the music of the day.
  • truth Truck is making its way to Austin to inspire people to #FinishIt. truth Tour Riders will keep visitors entertained with special guest DJs scratching from the iconic orange truck and with #LeftSwipeDat themed listening booths.
