Some of our staff and label friends have been kind enough to craft a number of spooky playlists for the Halloween weekend. If you’re looking for some music to get you in the ‘trick or treat’ spirit then look no further, check out the playlists from:
If you don’ t win there is still no need to cry, because Bjørn Johan has just released his new album “ Airwaves” , which according to him is an uplifting album. Check it out on Spotify! Should you against all odds want something else to listen to, we would recommend Bjørn Johan’ s own playlist of favourites: Spotify BJM.
When Tone Damli started making her new album, Cocool, she was pretty sure which direction to go in. She had a lot of inspiration from her “new” life, both new and old experiences, and a good knowledge and awareness of other artists. Now that the release of the album is not far away, she’s a bit nervous. It’s time to let go of her fourth “baby” which is always difficult.
As part of the launch we’ve got some great prizes to giveaway to Swedish users. Just post a playlist of at least two songs that you want to remix in DJ Hero 2 to this blog post and you’ll be entered to win your own DJ Hero 2 game and turntables. The game is available for PS3, Xbox360 and Wii.
And for everyone else they’ve put together this really great web version of the game that you can play right here on the blog. Give it a try!
Our good friends over at Sharemyplaylists have recently revamp their site to make it even better. They’ve introduced a Playlist Generator, Playlist Recommendations and Playlist Partners to bring you even more great music.
ShareMyPlaylists.com now has over 27,000 playlist shared with just over 4 million tracks in their playlists which would take just over 22 years to listen to, now that’s a playlist!
To relaunch with a bang they’re giving away a Sonos S5 Wireless Music Player, and Apple iPhone and 6 x 6 month Spotify Premium subscriptions. Check out their House Party page to enter.
A1 are proud to present their brand new album Waiting For Daylight. They’ve spent the better part of the last year writing and recording this album, their first studio album in 8 years. Working with a number of great producers in Norway they’ve had the opportunity to travel across the country performing these new songs to the great Norwegian Public.
They’ve put together a competition where you can win a lot of cool signed A1 stuff, to enter visit the contest site.
Taio Cruz, the new superstar from London, has become a phenomenon all over the world. With no 1 hits like “Dynamite” and “Break Your Heart” he has shown us his pure talent for making hit songs. With guests like Ludacris and Ke$ha, the album “Rockstarr”, should be mandatory repertoire at any party.
So, we like to party to Taio Cruz. But what does Taio himself put on the stereo when he wants to have a good time? Check out his own playlist to find out: Digster by Taio Cruz
John Lennon would have been 70 years old this past Saturday. While he’s no longer here in person his music lives on and we are excited to have his remastered solo albums available for the first time on Spotify as of today.
The album was recorded in New York at Avatar Studios and produced once again by Angelo Petraglia and Jacquire King. Come Around Sundown is the follow-up to the hugely successful Only By The Night, which sold over six million copies worldwide and garnered four Grammy Awards. It’s yet another bold and expansive statement by the Nashville, Tennessee-based quartet who, in the last two years, have become one of the biggest bands in the world; also one of the most creatively restless.
For a taste of what to expect from the new album be sure to check out the first single, Radioactive.
We kick things off this month with our good friend iamnottheenemy’s regular ‘The Soundtrack to…’ playlist. Amazing music from the inimitable UNKLE with Follow Me Down, Klaxons new tune Echoes and the infectious Boyfriend by Best Coast, alongside a whole host of feel-good, sonic, sensations, to highlight why these playlists are amongst our most popular. Summer’s not over yet!
Polydor Records – What we’re listening to September 2010
The good people over at Polydor Records like to keep us up to date with the tunes that are tickling their musical taste buds each month, which we, in turn, like to pass on to you. Some great music here, new and old, and not just from artists signed to their label – how very altruistic. Click here for an eclectic mix of The Velvet Underground, Joy Division, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Primal Scream, Goo Goo Dolls and many more.
We’re suckers for a good programming competition here at Spotify so we were really happy to be a sponsor of the Swedish National Programming Championships which took place this past weekend. The contest was held at five of the best technical universities across Sweden and was part of the larger Nordic Collegiate Programming Contest which is held in 15 cities across Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark and Iceland.
Some of the best and the brightest students and professional programmers take part and we were excited to see one of our own developers take home the top prize. In fact Erik’s team, Lag Bernhardsson, has won the competition an astounding five times which is quite an achievement.
