If you don’ t win there is still no need to cry, because Bjørn Johan has just released his new album “ Airwaves” , which according to him is an uplifting album. Check it out on Spotify! Should you against all odds want something else to listen to, we would recommend Bjørn Johan’ s own playlist of favourites: Spotify BJM.

When Tone Damli started making her new album, Cocool, she was pretty sure which direction to go in. She had a lot of inspiration from her “new” life, both new and old experiences, and a good knowledge and awareness of other artists. Now that the release of the album is not far away, she’s a bit nervous. It’s time to let go of her fourth “baby” which is always difficult.

As part of the release Tone has put together a great playlist of some her favourite tracks and has also got a great contest for you to enter to win some of her merchandise.

Spotify Premium exclusive – Kings of Leon’s Come Around Sundown

Kings of Leon will release the highly anticipated fifth album Come Around Sundown next week but we are excited to give Spotify Premium listeners in Sweden, Finland, Norway, Holland, Spain and France the chance to experience it a week early.

The album was recorded in New York at Avatar Studios and produced once again by Angelo Petraglia and Jacquire King. Come Around Sundown is the follow-up to the hugely successful Only By The Night, which sold over six million copies worldwide and garnered four Grammy Awards. It’s yet another bold and expansive statement by the Nashville, Tennessee-based quartet who, in the last two years, have become one of the biggest bands in the world; also one of the most creatively restless.

For a taste of what to expect from the new album be sure to check out the first single, Radioactive. October playlist selection

Our good friend Kieron from provides us with another one of his beautifully curate playlist posts.

Spotify sponsors the Swedish National Programming Championships

We’re suckers for a good programming competition here at Spotify so we were really happy to be a sponsor of the Swedish National Programming Championships which took place this past weekend. The contest was held at five of the best technical universities across Sweden and was part of the larger Nordic Collegiate Programming Contest which is held in 15 cities across Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark and Iceland.

Some of the best and the brightest students and professional programmers take part and we were excited to see one of our own developers take home the top prize. In fact Erik’s team, Lag Bernhardsson, has won the competition an astounding five times which is quite an achievement.

Congrats to everyone who took part and hopefully this sets up a good run at the North Western European Regional Contest (NWERC) in November in Germany.
