Spotify + Snow Leopard = ❤

As of last Friday there’s a new cat in town: Snow Leopard (or Mac OS X 10.6 for those who like numbers better). We’ve been running the Snow Leopard developer previews on some of our development machines for a few months, and are happy to report that Spotify for Mac will work just fine on the retail version released.

As usual (and this goes for our service in general), if you do find any bugs, please get in touch with our customer support.

Comments

  1. spotify is a good example towards other companies where snow leopard landed like a big surprise (supppliiiiiess!!!)

  2. works great, my only issue is that when I want to play or pause spotify itunes opens. Obviously, this is apple’s or itunes fault and there is probably nothing you can do about it, but I’m just say’n…

  3. Same problem here, when i play/pause spotify, itunes launches… It was ok with 10.5 I think. But i guess it has nothing to do with spotify.

  4. The iTunes thing sucks, but some other apps are having similar issues (see Plex).

Anyway, what I tend to do is to put iTunes onto iTunes Store. That way the Play/Pause button has no function and doesn’t do anything within iTunes. No more crazy Spotify/iTunes mash ups!

  5. Spotify works nicely here I am not experiencing this pause/play itunes launches bug

  6. Scrobbling works a treat for me and always has… and Spotify in general on Snow Leopard works just as awesome as always!

    Keep up the good work!

  8. Play/Paus is now starting iTunes even if iTunes is off. Please come up with a solution because it’s driving me nuts!

  9. Problem is, when you press pause etc on the keyboard, iTunes opens. fix please!

  10. Put all music that is on Beatport on Spotify? And I would need no other music service :)

  11. So do the Spotify developers like being guinea pigs for new Apple OS’s or was there something of interest in Snow Leopard!?!

For instance, HTTP Live Streaming that is supported for the first time in Leopard.

Doesn’t the latest Spotify desktop app support video streaming for adverts? If I were Spotify, I would be planning to move into video streaming. I would therefore make my desktop and mobile clients support HTTP Live Streaming.

I’m sure Apple have some related goodies for us on the 9th. Presumably, Spotify will spill their beans on the 10th !?!?

Btw, apologies for reverting the speculation back to the iPhone app, but frankly this announcement just isn’t exciting enough – LOL.

  12. If Spotify leave it until Apple’s event next week, I think they will have missed a great opportunity to cash in while everyone was interested after the initial approval announcement. It has been a week now since the news of Apple’s approval and some who were a little ‘meh’ about it may not care come next week. It is £9.99/month after all.

This may be a rare example of Spotify cocking it up PR wise. But who knows, I may be wrong or they may announce a US service next week with their selling partner (Apple) in the US. That would be worth waiting for for them.

  13. @niklas_a You mention that scrobbling don’t work for you in Snow Leopard.
Have you always had a problem with scrobbling?
Are you using a proxy to connect to Spotify?

  14. @pantern I second that! Airfoil works like a charm and is a great piece of software, but having the functionality built into Spotify would just rock… (Airfoil doesn’t work on Snow Leopard yet either…)

@jacob3music Beatport is great stuff, but I guess it’s the record labels and artists that needs to be persuaded, not the good people at Beatport…

  15. Spotify works great in SL. So does Airfoil. Great combination……. now i’m only waiting for the Spotify client for the iPhone :-)

    Great job Spotify-Team!

  16. @aitchgee Airfoil do work with Snow Leopard. At least if you bought it and have the latest version..

  17. I paid for a premium account and the Play/Pause buttons iTunes launch. Have you got a solution ?

  18. hey eso es verdad jacquesbh el boton de Play/Pausa de mi Macbook pro lanza ITunes, alguna solución o esto lo arregla Apple?

  19. No pat on the back for this – staying compatible with Apple machines is basic “stay-in-business” operations, and while I welcome the news, I would have expected nothing less.

  20. I keep getting “Internal error 1”, and Spotify won’t styrat under Snow Leopard. New download of Spotify soesn’t help. Any syggestins?.

  21. Not sure if this is anything to do with me having installed Snow Leopard last week, but now Spotify keeps stopping and starting. At least once every song:(

  22. I have a problem with my office wireless network after upgrading to Snow Leopard 10.6.2. last week. The wireless connection turned very unreliable; after a few minutes of playing Airport drops and does not come back. The thing to do is to disable & enable wireless; the problem comes back EVERY TIME, however. Quitting Spotify is the only way to keep the connection up.

  23. If you have the play/pause problem, try holding down shift + alt when pressing the play/pause button. For me iTunes doesn’t start up when I do that.
