In celebration of International Day of Rock N Roll this Thursday July 13th, Spotify can reveal the 20 most listened to rock acts of 2017 globally. To celebrate the full spectrum of rock, Spotify’s very own Head of Rock Allison Hagendorf has highlighted some of the most impactful new songs in the Spotify playlist Rock This.
“We’re proud to celebrate the International Day of Rock N Roll in the best way possible – by listening to ‘Rock This,’ the go-to destination for music fans to discover the latest in the Rock world,” said Allison Hagendorf, Head of Rock at Spotify. “It’s where you’ll find the newest songs from favorites like Foo Fighters and Queens Of The Stone Age, as well as from emerging bands like Royal Blood and Kaleo.”

The celebration of International Day of Rock N Roll started in memory of Live Aid held on July 13th, 1985. Live Aid was organized by Bob Geldof with guest performances by rock giants like The Who, Status Quo, Led Zeppelin, Dire Straits, Madonna, Queen, Joan Baez, David Bowie, BB King, Mick Jagger, Sting, Scorpions, U2, Paul McCartney, Phil Collins, Eric Clapton and Black Sabbath. In parts of the world the day is referred to as “World Day of Rock”.
