Check out The Q Awards’ Winners Playlist

Central London was gridlocked with genuine music legends today as Q, the UK’s leading monthly music magazine, held their annual awards bash.

Hosted by comedian Al Murray, in the guise of his alter-ego The Pub Landlord, guest presenters included new Radio Breakfast Show DJ Nick Grimshaw, the genius behind the Olympics Opening Ceremony, director Danny Boyle and mascara-strewn king of the Rock Zombies, Alice Cooper.

In all 15 awards were presented – but to who?

Well, Blur won Best Live Act after their amazing Summer shows, Emeli Sande was named Best Solo Artist (beating both Noel Gallagher and Adele), while Muse took home Best Act In The World Today having seen off the Stone Roses, Lady Gaga and Coldplay. Django Django won Best New Act, while for Ben Drew – AKA Plan B – it was a double celebration as he won Best Track for his amazing single ill Manors on his actual birthday. Content with one source of happiness were the reformed Pulp who scored the Q Inspiration Award presented by John Peel’s widow, Sheila. Soon after Smiths legendary guitarist Johnny Marr was honoured as Q Hero, while the brilliant Bobby Womack won Album of the Year Award for his Bravest Man In The Universe LP and Brandon Flowers was named as this year’s Q Idol.
