It’s now been three short months since we introduced everybody to Spotify Apps.
The apps have opened the door to a whole new world of music discovery and engagement for our users, who have now spent a total of 1500 years within the apps since their launch.
A few highlights
Soundrop lets you discover, listen to and share music with friends in ‘rooms’ created by genre or theme. Users listened together to 15 million songs in February alone – the equivalent of our entire catalogue, or 100 years’ of music.
Visitors to Tunewiki can sing along to the lyrics of the song they’re playing. Users have now edited or synced more than 100,000 songs in the ‘wiki’, helping create content for others to enjoy and sing along to.
Moodagent, which gives you instant playlists to match your mood, generates over 3.5 million playlists a week, with the ‘Happy Quick’ mood proving to be twice as popular as ‘Angry’ mood.
And SpotOn Radio, which was built on the Spotify mobile platform, went all the way to number six on the Swedish iPhone app store.
It’s been a great start. Watch out for more exciting news regarding Spotify Apps coming very soon!

Our friend @MonaFims has this #MusicMonday’s music recommendations.
This #MusicMonday kicks off with a new favorite indie-pop darling: Sheffield-based “Standard Fare”. I fell in love with their song “The Look of Lust” from their secound album “Out of Sight, Out of Town”
As usual, I try to add a few good singer/songwriters to the playlist every week. This week the chosen ones are: “Scott Matthews” with “Eyes Wider Than Before” from his first album “Passing Stranger” I´m still in love with his first single from the same album called “Elusive” Do you remember that song? Also,”Ben Howard” with “Old Pine” and “Damien Rice” with “Dogs”. All amazing songs and artists.
There is always a mix between genres and new findings. In the latest edition of by:larm in Oslo, last week, “Tomorrow We Move to Hawaii” made a great live impression and their song “Underworld” got stuck in my head. From Malmø, a new shiny Swedish favourite called “Turn Off Your Televition”. And last but not least: Astro. Their song “Ciervos” is strange and very catchy.
If you have song suggestion for next weeks playlist feel free to drop them in my Spotify Inbox!
Here you can find the playlist: http://spoti.fi/music-mondays – Subscribe and you will get a mix of twenty new feel-good tracks every Monday.

Over the past few weeks we’ve seen a number of great uses of the Spotify Platform that have enabled wonderful new musical experiences. In-client experiences such as Songkick’s integration and Last.fm’s discovery engine. Third party mobile apps like SpotOn and Soundrop. And now we have another great project to let you know about.
One of our Mac OS X engineers has released a libspotify-based desktop client for OS X Lion, Viva, that he’s built to test libspotify and CocoaLibSpotify and as an interesting ‘side project’.
While this isn’t an official Spotify client it is another example of just how powerful and easy it is to build upon the Spotify Platform. If you’re running OS X Lion feel free to check it out, it’s a little rough around the edges but still great to use.
If you’re a developer and want to learn how to build something yourself using the Spotify Platform check out our developer site now.
Millions of users listen to Spotify’s streaming music service world wide. And behind the scenes we have a world class technology organization, continuing to make Spotify the best music service available.
If you are interested in meeting some of our great engineers and more people who have taken the time to do develop something cool with our service, you are welcome to join any of our groups!
