For a third, fantastic year, we will be painting Austin green. From March 10th through the 14th, the Spotify House will be your go-to venue to unwind and discover the best in new music.
This year, we’re moving to a brand new venue with more room to check out bands and catch up with friends.
Our 2014 lineup boasts 30+ must-see acts – including emerging stars G-Eazy and MØ, along with Glass Animals, Tove Lo, Jungle and Betty Who, to electro rockers Phantogram, St. Paul and The Broken Bones and many more – we’ve got something for everyone! In years past, Spotify has hosted a number of break-out artists during SXSW such as Kimbra, Haim, Kendrick Lamar, Tom Odell and St. Lucia and this year will be no different. Get the full line-up day by day here.
The CW Network, partner of The Spotify House and home of shows including The Vampire Diaries, Arrow, and Supernatural, will have stars from the upcoming sci-fi drama The 100 and other hit series stopping by to hang with some of the coolest new bands.
For even more awesomeness on the ground, we’ll be introducing a music-themed mosaic photo booth created by The Brigade, an interactive playlist generator as well as music trivia installation created by Beak Labs.
RSVP now and follow us on our dedicated SXSW Spotify handle @sxspotify to stay up to date on the latest news and giveaways! You can also subscribe to our text line [Text YES to 61235] to get up-to-the-minute updates from all the activity on the ground. With so much on the go, be sure to follow us on Vine and Instagram for more information about our SXSW plans this year.
See you at SXSW!
Ahead of the 4th of July holiday this week, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has compiled his Summer 2013 Spotify Playlist.
From Bruce to Bruno Mars, the Gov gives you the soundtrack for an awesome Independence Day at the Shore (or anywhere). Enjoy!
We opened the doors of our Big Green Spotify House in Austin today for SXSW! Day One was filled with sunshine, live music, DJs, a Seahawk, and one friendly duck.
Ivan & Alyosha kicked off the day with a live set in our front yard. An acoustic, unplugged version of their hit “Easy to Love” drew the crowd in for one of the most intimate performances of the day.
Robert DeLong brought along face painters and treated our guests to some facial art before bringing down the house in a one-man show featuring drums, a joystick and even a Wii remote.
Watch the Duck closed out the day with a two hour session on our front porch with their mascot dancing amongst the crowd. Mixing in some Marvin Gaye, Law & Order theme songs and Barney, the sun set on day one with some serious partying.
Seattle Seahawk Russell Okung and Downloaded Director Alex Winter were amongst the guests checking out our photo booth, iced coffee from our friends at Cenote and Cuvee, and grub from East Side Kings.
The lineup tomorrow is sure to keep the party going as the music portion of SXSW gets started. Doors open at 12pm so get here early to secure a spot for performances by Jamie N Commons at 1pm and Twenty One Pilots at 3pm followed by DJ sets from White Panda at 4pm and Sam Spiegel at 5pm.
And keep following us on Twitter at @SxSpotify for all of your live updates from the Spotify House.

For all of those who wonder what Nouvelle Vague means, you may find a delightful musical answer. And for music lovers in general, here is a selection of what Believe has in store for you: Sélection_Believe (a lot more to come…).

We’ve got a new monthly playlist feature for you, put together by our good friends over at Drowned in Sound. If you’re not aware of DiS, it’s a music community which has been doing an amazing job in providing opinions and recommending records since 2000. Each month, the site’s founder will compile a link-laden playlist for you featuring 20 of the previous month’s finest releases, primarily from the ‘alternative’/indie-rock/electronic sphere.
So, here’s the first playlist in this series Drowned in January 2010 playlist and the commentary from Sean Adams:
1) Owen Pallett ‘Lewis’ Dream’
Plink, plink. Kicking off this playlist is something slight. This gentle and genteel track is from the violin-wielding former Arcade Fire and Last of the Shadow Puppets collaborating man formerly known as Final Fantasy, whose new album Heartland was released via Domino Records this month, read DiS’ 8/10 review of the album here.
2) Frightened Rabbit ‘Swim Until You Can’t See Land’
Fans of indie-rock royalty The Shins and The National who haven’t got The Winter Of Mixed Drinks (Fat Cat) scribbled in their diary on March 1st, do so now because if this song and a few others I heard live are anything to go by, these Grey’s Anatomy-soundtracking Scots have a real treat in store. Read our interview with the band about the album.
3) Paul Simon ‘Me And Julio Down By The Schoolyard’
Brooklyn’s angular indie-popsters Vampire Weekend released their second album this month but try as they might, they still haven’t bettered this classic track from the legendary Paul Simon. However, they did write a a great director’s commentary-like guide to Contra for DrownedinSound.
