This year alone Spotify has created brilliant, exclusive content in collaboration with artists like Daft Punk, Avicii and Kendrick Lamar, but now we’re ready to go further. Say hello to Spotlight, the new home for a whole host of fantastic music, the freshest discoveries and the hottest recommendations right at the heart of Spotify.
Spotlight will show you what’s hot and who’s next, plus there’ll be the coolest exclusives, pre-releases, b-sides and remixes alongside new artist recommendations, playlists, track-by-track commentaries and video interviews.
We’re launching Spotlight with two of the most exciting artists in the world today, Los Angeles’ own HAIM and New Zealand’s Lorde. There’s never been anything like this on Spotify before, so if you’re ready to meet your next favourite new band and discover a world of amazing music then we’ll meet you there.
For the best freshest recommendations and hottest tracks of the year so far, follow our Spotlight On 2013 playlist:
Starting right now Spotify has an exclusive 24 hour premiere of the final segment of the video trailer for the upcoming Killers album, Battle Born.
Artfully capturing each band member’s journey to the studio, this video, titled “Brandon, The Battle Born,” is the finale of a four-part trailer series that gives fans a taste of a new album full of music heavily influenced by the band’s Nevada roots.
Watch here to follow Brandon Flowers and the rest of the band across the red plains of the desert and shimmering lights of Las Vegas to the studio for a moving performance of their new single, “Runaways”.
Want more? Only a few more weeks until Battle Born is out on September 14th! In the meantime, check out “Runaways” here or jam out to The Killers’ complete discography in the Complete Collection App on Spotify.
Let’s say you’re listening to a new track and you’d like to know the lyrics. Just click over to the TuneWiki app and see all the words of the song perfectly synced as you’re listening.
Maybe you want to see a gig this weekend? Check out the Songkick app to find out if any of the artists in your library are performing near you. Then get your hands on tickets with a few clicks.
The apps you’ll discover over the next few days are only the beginning. We’ll surprise you, and probably be surprised ourselves, with many more new and wonderful experiences that will make Spotify even better.
Next Friday, September 11th, they will be in Stockholm to meet with fans and media and one lucky Spotify Premium subscriber in Sweden can win a chance to meet the group and then see them in concert on December 4th at Hovet in Stockholm.
If you want to meet the band and see them live later this year drop us a quick ‘why I should win’ comment on the blog and we’ll pick a winner on September 7th. Good luck!
